Product Description
Kipper Snacks are a traditional European food dating back as far as the fourteenth century. The method of preparation demands that only the finest fillets of herring be smoked over natural hardwood chips. Delicate in flavor, these kippers are packed without any additional salt. Kipper Snacks are firm and flaky in texture and contain omega-3 fatty acids. Just one can provides over one-third of the recommended daily allowance of protein. Try them in salads, casseroles… More >>

I just bought this item for the first time and the pop top snapped off with very little pressure. Make sure you have a can opener on hand if you buy this product.

For anyone wanting more omega-3s from fish, this is a wonderful source. The price is right and the flavor is mild.

These are Herrings not Sardines. Sardines are a misused word. Morocco is the sardine capital of the world. Sardines represent more than 62% of the Moroccan fish catch and account for 91% of raw material usage in the domestic canning industry. Morocco is the largest canned sardine exporter in the world. Herrings usually come from Atlantic Ocean in Canada. Consider these facts:
Sardines in oil compare to Dry Herring have more of vitamin D 193 to 86, Calcium 382 to 84, Omega 6(18:2) 3.543 to 0.141
Sardines in oil compare to Dry Herring have more Omega 3 EPA(20:5) 0.473 to 0.075 but less Omega 3 DHA(22:6) 0.509 to 1.179
Herrings is higher in vitamin B-12 19 to 9
Herring is lower in cholesterol 82 to 142 since it is not in oil
The whole can of Hearing has 70 mg of sodium compare to low salt sardine for 135 mg, in oil with salt sardines have over 400 mg
For lower cholesterol and sodium, high Omega 3 to 6 ratio and vitamin B, I purchase these Herrings but for high vitamin D and calcium I buy the same brand Crown Prince, low sodium Brisling Sardines which are much smaller and higher in quality from Scotland. For some reason Crown Prince quality is better and they do not seem to misrepresent the sodium amount. Meantime, you can get Sardines on Amazon for half the cost by other brands about .25 cents an ounce which some individuals feed it to their pets. Always read the ingredients before making a purchase.

I’m more of sardine fan but I bought these just to try them, as in the past I’d tried several brands of kipper snacks.
To be brief, these were great. Neatly packed, fresh, flavorful kippers! So, if you love kippers I can’t see how you wouldn’t love these, and if you’ve never tried kippers and you want to, I’d say start here. Though if possible you may want to buy a can retail just to see if kippers are for you. Kippers are a world all their own and just because you like other kinds of fish doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll like kippers.

I am very happy with this reduced sodium (I don’t miss the extra salt at all) kipper snacks.
I am going to share it with one of my Jewish friends.
Wild caught and very good tasting!
